More Important Than Spilling Milk:
Three-year-old Patty was watching her mother set the table. She picked up a bottle of milk, intending to help pour it into glasses. Her mother quickly grabbed the bottle, saying very kindly, "No, dear, you're too young to do that. I can pour the milk myself; you can help me set the table. "Patty watched her mother pour the milk herself, feeling very disappointed, and left the dining room unhappily.
Children in the early stages of life possess a very strong, innate courage and a strong desire to do what they see others doing. Encouraging Children:
Even if Patty spilled some milk, it was a small matter compared to her confidence.
Patty had the courage to try new things, so her mother should show confidence in her and encourage her.
