If we have a quiet heart, even sitting silently, we can feel time stepping through our hearts. As time flows, we feel that while the beautiful landscapes of nature can certainly move us, the things in human culture that are often overlooked can also resonate with us. For example, an ancient well abandoned in the wilderness, a wrecked ship eroded on the coast, a statue found on the edge of a village, a broken wall.
Humans, in this universe, so yearn to create something, sometimes for the necessities of life, sometimes in the pursuit of eternal life, and sometimes simply unintentionally.
Time, with its silent footsteps, washes away the things humans create, turning them from a joyous spring into a withering winter.
This is impermanence, an inevitable path in space and time. We cannot remain in a certain situation, a certain love, or even in sorrow or loss.
It's like sitting in a forest listening to birdsong; each song is so similar, yet each one is different. A bird's cry or a wall are actually no different. We see a wall every day, and it may seem similar, but it is different every day. One day it will break down, and one day it will be completely shattered.
