Benefits of Focus

Before the Lunar New Year, I devoured many best-selling books, becoming quite restless. I bought tens of thousands of yuan worth of paid courses, but didn't even attend some of them. Every day seemed spent making money and learning new skills, but I was completely clueless about the internet, unable to find a way forward. Not only did I waste money, but I also squandered precious time.

Later, I slowly understood the wisdom my grandmother had taught me: "Slow is fast."

When I was little, we would take on beadwork and other handicrafts to earn pocket money. I was competitive and often competed with my skillful older sister, always losing because the wages were split equally. I dragged the team down and cried in frustration.

My grandmother smiled at me, a little helpless. Although she was slow and methodical, she never made mistakes and was always faster than us. Her composed demeanor in her traditional Chinese clothing left a deep impression on me; time seemed to stretch out and become elegant around her.

Yes, I asked myself, am I still the same person I used to be? The person who was willing to invest so much effort without questioning why? If you want to make money online, you have to understand it first. Study hard, what's the rush?

I picked up the courses I'd bought, not wanting to waste resources. I learned and then put them into practice, working from morning till night. Slowly, the illusions became clearer, and I started to reap the rewards. I rediscovered that immersive and joyful feeling I had when I was a child, studying and reading. I know this is called focus.

Focus has brought me many benefits, but I can't pinpoint them specifically. It's not just about income; it's also about a more thorough understanding of things, evolving from concepts to real-world operations. Behind every ordinary little thing, there might be a business opportunity, supporting countless people, providing various conveniences, and solving various needs…

Cultivating this down-to-earth perspective on people and the world makes me feel particularly innocent and secure. Focusing on one thing solves a large part of the problem. I'm no longer pretentious, no longer obsessed, no longer upset, no longer confused, and I don't care about opposing voices…

Failures and setbacks are insignificant in the face of this inner sense of direction and stability.

There's a kind of meeting that feels like a long-awaited encounter.

When     I first arrived in this city, the weather was a hazy, grayish white. It was already the height of summer, and there was a humid, stifling heat.     At the subway exit, I saw Mo Xiaobei struggling to find me in the crowd. She took my suitcase, then pretended to be incredibly strong, smiling happily at me and revealing her cute little tiger teeth. I followed Mo Xiaobei through several subway stops until we finally arrived at her rented room. The moment I opened the door, it felt like I had entered a disaster zone. Just as I had imagined, her room was a mess. Several pairs of shoes were scattered haphazardly on the floor, and bottles and jars were strewn about on the table, along with leftover food that had been moldy for days. I turned to look at Mo Xiaobei, who scratched her head sheepishly. "I haven't cleaned the house these past few days. Since you're here, could you help me tidy up?" I knew she was always like this, so I shook my head h...

How should parents guide their children to correctly understand themselves when faced with their own imperfections?

No one is perfect, and we must accept our own shortcomings. So, how should parents guide their children to correctly understand themselves when faced with their own imperfections? 01. Help children accept themselves. Every leaf in the world is different, and so are people. To help children accept themselves, parents must first help them accept their appearance. Even if they don't have big eyes or a high nose, they can compensate with other strengths. Everyone has their own unique beauty; appearance is just a superficial thing, and it will age with time, while the soul remains constant. Therefore, teach children not to be too concerned about their appearance, but to focus on learning and enriching their inner world. 02. Don't compare them to other children; let them surpass themselves. It's said that without comparison, there is no harm. This applies not only to adults but also to children. Some parents always compare their children to others, which can lead child...

I haven't forgotten Quanzhou Third Lane

I've lived in Quanzhou for half my life, and in Dongjie for so many years, I've never walked through Sanxiang Lane, even though it's right next door. Sometimes I would pass by without paying much attention; it's just a typical southern alley, 200-300 meters long and 2 meters wide. Someone who's lived in this city for over 20 years without much worldly success moved in to save on rent. I was fortunate enough to record a small segment of this alley's long history. At the intersection of Sanxiang Lane and Wenling Road, there's a newly built residential area—though it's been 15 years since then. The ground floor is like any other building, with shops on the ground floor. Across the street are some older houses, urban villages. The buildings along the roadside are also shops: senior citizens' associations, small factories, cigarette shops, hair salons, breakfast stalls, and fried dough twists—they were delicious, coated in sugar, and I often bought t...
