To understand people's hearts, read Guiguzi!

Both men and women hope their girlfriends or boyfriends are understanding.

A woman's gentleness, thoughtfulness, and understanding make a man feel relaxed, like the warmth of home.

Similarly, a man's thoughtfulness and understanding make a woman feel warm, like basking in the winter sun.

Hopes are high, but reality is harsh.

We always hope others are understanding, but we don't demand of ourselves to put ourselves in others' shoes and learn to be considerate.

What does it mean to be understanding?

It means putting yourself in someone else's shoes, thinking from their perspective or situation, understanding their difficulties, forgiving their mistakes, and encouraging them to face things positively.

Unfortunately, being truly understanding is very difficult.

Because of habitual thinking, people always believe that what they say is right, what they hear is true, and what they see is true.

Misunderstandings in communication mostly stem from a lack of mutual understanding.

Precisely because being understanding is difficult, we should learn to change.

To understand others, one must first understand their hearts.

Hearing that one must understand their hearts seems too difficult.

Haha, if you find it difficult, it's because you haven't read Guiguzi yet.

Even if you haven't read Guiguzi, it's okay. Let Guiguzi teach us the three great skills for understanding people's hearts.

  With perseverance, nothing is difficult.

The first skill, Guiguzi said: "Based on their words, listen to their expressions."

  What does this mean?

Simply put, it's four words: listen attentively.

  How to listen?

To elaborate, when the other person speaks, don't rush to respond. Instead, follow their words to understand why they say what they mean and what they are trying to express.

To accurately understand what the other person is trying to express, you need to listen attentively to every word they say.

Only by understanding can communication be smooth.

Learning to listen is the first step to understanding people's hearts.

(Based on their words, listen to their expressions. From *Guiguzi*, Chapter Two: Response)

The second skill, Guiguzi said: "Hear the sound and harmonize. "

Some versions say: "Hear the sound and know the friend."

This means learning to respond when the other person speaks.

Talk about their interests and hobbies; if you share similar interests, your words will resonate with them and they will consider you a confidant.

(Hearing the voice and the tone. From *Guiguzi*, Chapter 8)

The third strategy, Guiguzi said: "When speaking, the listener must agree with the sentiment."

Why do others like to listen to what you say?

Because it agrees with the sentiment.

  What does that mean?

It means that what you say completely aligns with the other person's true feelings.

Because your hearts resonate with theirs, what people often call mutual understanding, the other person will listen to what you say.

(When speaking, the listener must agree with the sentiment. From *Guiguzi*, Chapter 8)

In communication, learning to put yourself in others' shoes, learning to listen, and learning to think before you speak will be a pleasant journey, yielding not only beautiful scenery along the way, but also great success and happiness.

There's a kind of meeting that feels like a long-awaited encounter.

When     I first arrived in this city, the weather was a hazy, grayish white. It was already the height of summer, and there was a humid, stifling heat.     At the subway exit, I saw Mo Xiaobei struggling to find me in the crowd. She took my suitcase, then pretended to be incredibly strong, smiling happily at me and revealing her cute little tiger teeth. I followed Mo Xiaobei through several subway stops until we finally arrived at her rented room. The moment I opened the door, it felt like I had entered a disaster zone. Just as I had imagined, her room was a mess. Several pairs of shoes were scattered haphazardly on the floor, and bottles and jars were strewn about on the table, along with leftover food that had been moldy for days. I turned to look at Mo Xiaobei, who scratched her head sheepishly. "I haven't cleaned the house these past few days. Since you're here, could you help me tidy up?" I knew she was always like this, so I shook my head h...

How should parents guide their children to correctly understand themselves when faced with their own imperfections?

No one is perfect, and we must accept our own shortcomings. So, how should parents guide their children to correctly understand themselves when faced with their own imperfections? 01. Help children accept themselves. Every leaf in the world is different, and so are people. To help children accept themselves, parents must first help them accept their appearance. Even if they don't have big eyes or a high nose, they can compensate with other strengths. Everyone has their own unique beauty; appearance is just a superficial thing, and it will age with time, while the soul remains constant. Therefore, teach children not to be too concerned about their appearance, but to focus on learning and enriching their inner world. 02. Don't compare them to other children; let them surpass themselves. It's said that without comparison, there is no harm. This applies not only to adults but also to children. Some parents always compare their children to others, which can lead child...

I haven't forgotten Quanzhou Third Lane

I've lived in Quanzhou for half my life, and in Dongjie for so many years, I've never walked through Sanxiang Lane, even though it's right next door. Sometimes I would pass by without paying much attention; it's just a typical southern alley, 200-300 meters long and 2 meters wide. Someone who's lived in this city for over 20 years without much worldly success moved in to save on rent. I was fortunate enough to record a small segment of this alley's long history. At the intersection of Sanxiang Lane and Wenling Road, there's a newly built residential area—though it's been 15 years since then. The ground floor is like any other building, with shops on the ground floor. Across the street are some older houses, urban villages. The buildings along the roadside are also shops: senior citizens' associations, small factories, cigarette shops, hair salons, breakfast stalls, and fried dough twists—they were delicious, coated in sugar, and I often bought t...
