Cocooning refers to an emerging group in developed countries, especially those with high competition and youth unemployment. These reclusive individuals reject social interaction, social integration, and interaction with others, yet feel connected to the world through internet technology. To some extent, I'm like that too, although I'm not ignorant of people, nor am I unable to find work.
Being alone can be stressful, because there's so much information available. I understand that growing up and becoming independent involves so much—so many things to research, so many ideas popping up one after another. Therefore, my best way to relieve stress is to see something completed, an idea resolved; the act of doing itself is my way of relieving stress. I often worry that I haven't done things well enough. But in reality, no one is a perfectionist; most people do their best and leave the rest to fate. Regarding the matter of "doing things," Taoists say to follow one's heart, emphasizing the importance of cultivating the Tao and the spirit; Confucians say that fulfilling personal obligations and social responsibilities without seeking results, achieving inner sagehood and outer kingship, is the mark of a sage (philosopher); Mohists say that benefiting both oneself and others is best, and everything can be used to do things that benefit both oneself and others; Buddhism speaks of cause and effect, urging one not to commit evil deeds. In real life, no one expects you to be a genius, nor does anyone expect you to conform to philosophy; reaching an average level is sufficient. However, I still spend a lot of time doing research and putting my ideas into practice to alleviate my stress. Even if I do nothing, I still see many things; the pain that ideas bring me is also joy, and joy is also pain. Therefore, philosophy must continue to be studied, and novels must continue to be written. Once I'm on these two pirate ships, it's hard for me to get off.
Those who live in seclusion for a long time may also perceive society and life as overly treacherous. In reality, as long as they are willing to step out of their homes and strive to survive, they will always find a way to make a living. They also tend to have excessively high expectations of others, hoping for perfection in society and the people and things around them, making them very prone to frustration. Starting with small things and realizing their ideas will help them understand that their own strength is not so weak.
Realizing ideas brings immense satisfaction; this heartfelt self-affirmation is something no one can take away. The process of developing an idea and designing it is what brings me the most joy.
